wokey dokes....
Thanks for the tips.. I'll be looking forward to a much smoother & lag free lap top after tongiht...
btw... I've hard a weird situation with my laptop recently, and I wonder, is it due to low RAM?
I go to Youtube, open probably 3 tabs on ie. and then play/pause the videos and hope that they load, but besides taking forever to load, I once experienced that they never load more than 10-15 seconds into the video? Is it because You tube is now streaming HD videos, and thats taking more space in RAM, and when RAM runs out, then you're stuck???
Hey Capt11, it has nothing to do with RAM capacity. not sure if you try to stream 720p content or you are just trying to stream standard YouTube vids but even if your PC is not capable of smooth HD playback (low performance graphics capability for example) you see dropped frames, choppy vids but you will still get the full video. Guessing that you're on Streamyx 1Mbps and you are trying 3 720p vids (hitting play/pause to initiate streaming) I think your connection got saturated and timed out. I'm not a fan of YouTube (hasn't actually been there much) but i encounter same issue when I tried doing what you're doing with QuickTime 1080p .264 HD video (hitting play/pause to initiate streaming, then watch when its full.) My suggestion bro? Migrate elsewhere (where their politicians respect netizen's rights for super-fast broadbands instead of trying to ban them) or try one vid at a time.

Got it... coincidentally, after I upgraded, I happened to try out another wifi place.. and it was good n fast... as in, really fast.. nice... y'know Q Bistro at Permaisuri.?? THere... there were at least 10 other laptop users there, streaming stuff and watching vids, but my connection was still good... perhaps its the broadband... perhaps a bit on the upgraded RAM (and a little windows tweaking as well ), and also perhaps I was doing one vid at a time... i duno.. but its fine and dandy now... Vista is still a little sluggish sometimes (like when opening pictures or music), but otherwise, the upgrades has improved the performance and responsiveness to humanly acceptable standards... Now my coffee will still be hot by the time my PC finishes starting up... (Last time it took between 10 -15 minutes to complete start up)...

Here's a tip for low RAM, single hard disk setup: especially true to Vista (tested on my laptop) and XP as well -> if you ever intend to do a fresh install; 1. remove all partitions 2. create a small partition first (2-4 GB). This will force the small partition be in faster area of the hard disk 3. then partition the remaining portion to your liking (I usually leave the rest as one big partition). 4. format/initialize but leave the small partition blank, install your OS on the larger partition (or partition of your choice) 5. after your OS is ready for use, assign the virtual memory onto the small partition only (make min and max size the same as recommended amount); remove the virtual memory from the OS drive. You will notice significant improvement in overall OS response because virtual RAM is essential (even on systems with 4GB RAM) and this will force the pagefile.sys into the 'front'most (also the fastest) portion of your harddisk - it also reduce fragmentation to your pagefile.sys For desktops? to be continued: Lets end this very serious post with my signature yahHoo!

yahHoo! again.. For my system with 3 hdd i do the following: First harddisk -> Vista, game files and programs Second harddisk -> Drive where all downloads (torrents included) are written to - essential if you torrent 24/7 Third harddisk -> Create small partition for Virtual memory, remaining becomes storage where you transfer and keep all your downloaded files, movies etc. This will make a dedicated drive where your os and games, programs will load from without interuption from the occasional read/write to virtual drive. As for the third harddisk is not going to be accessed often (they store your media that are hardly ever accessed) so having the virtual RAM there is a good choice. Torrent constantly read/write therefore another dedicated drive is very important too. Then when your friend come over and user your PC they will wonder why your PC is so much more responsive when they have almost the same specs Then someone will suggest I set up RAID instead - and then I will ask - how am I supposed to backup 1TB worth of data if ever I need to format my harddisk if all the drives are tied in RAID

Here's some screenshots with simple explanation for Windows 7 beta - full screen images mostly are reduced 50% from my monitor's native resolution (1920 x 1080)
And the different wallpapers - no I did not change them on purpose, I left them to cycle every 1 minute.
Do maximize your window for better viewing: The Windows 7 desktop The new start menu The new taskbar, for example if you open a few IE windows or tabs, they will be grouped together under the IE button, when you hover over it live thumbnails for each window/tab will slide out for you to click, or you can also directly close the tab from here. Applies to other applications as well. No more button with program/window name on the taskbar (unless you requested to go old school). Also notice the transparent boxes at the back? Other windows will not be shown, just window in focus. Also in focus is the new IE8 beta. To those of you about to reply a post on how Firefox/Netscape/Safari/Chrome/Opera is way kickass, do keep it to yourself. I've used them all, I actively use Firefox. But I love IE the most because it has best website compatibility. This post is not about how IE8 sucks or not. Notice the border all around the desktop? When you pull any window to the topmost of your desktop it will appear, and when you let go of the mouse button the window will maximize. If you pull window away from the top it will restore. Same goes if you drag it all they way left, only difference it will fill half of screen, if you drag another window to the right it will fill the other half - meant for comparing window contents side by side. Those number crunching on Excel or copying homework will find this handy. If you hover your mouse at the bottom right of the screen (next to clock area - again look different) all opened windows will disappear leaving the window borders, this is just in case you have a lot of gadgets at the back you can easily view them. .. continued New Windows Experience Index screen - with Vista no matter how fast your hardware was the score always seem to be capped at 5.9 - well that cap was removed DirectX 11 made its debut here as reported by DirectX diagnostic tool - I'm sure its not supported on my system though because I'm using DX10.1 card. The new control panel, I'm sure control freaks will be pleased. Just look at the amount of controls! The new Personalization screen, where now you can select from preset themes or create your own. You can specify which wallpaper image you want to choose for desktop slideshow, and set the interval when wallpapers will change. The new Paint, slightly different user interface but same limited features. New resize button. Continue to next post:Thanks to ImageShack for Free Image Hosting

.. continued (last of image bombing series) The new Windows Media Center under music playback interface, look slightly like Zune with cover arts of your music collection on the background New interface for Windows Media Player 12, which when you press 'Switch To Now Playing' button on the bottom right of the window will turn to this: Video playback will be in this small window as well (of course can be resized and made full screen). A new feature is when you right click on the WMP button on the taskbar there will be 'Play all music shuffled' which does exactly what it says Ya,ya I know iTunes and iPod has this feature LONG LONG ago - I own 3 iPods remember?.. this post is not about Apple, is it now people? What else do you want to see, let me know Thanks to ImageShack for Free Image Hosting

Hell yeah hope the rumors are true, can't wait for an update. It's like birthday present to phenom
Hopefully they will fix this issue where I can't get rear-audio channels for Blu-ray movie playback. was working well in Vista.

it look fantastic lerr.... i wish the economy would improves for better, then i can indulge in this upgrade... Well the official release of course is not out for at least another 8 months maybe.. but don't worry I think it will won't be very expensive. And if your machine is running Vista now, I'm sure you don't need to change your hardware to run Win7.

Yup... Win7 was designed to run on existing consumer level hardware... so, no nit to upgrade that much lah... Ek? What rear audio channels for blu ray playa?
