If we want, we could do tons of things to promote this forum, and get more members in.... but which activities should, and which shouldn't we?

I'm a little hesitant to promote for fear that I may be attracting the wrong crowd, so I figured, why not get some feedback, and if there's no real objection/issues with the promotional activities, then only we proceed lah...

If we promote, we can get more members, and with more members, we definitely would have more activity, posts, topics, discussions, ... more feedback, and we'd be able to address more residents on related topics...

Cons? I can't think of any, and that just doesn't feel right...  Smiley
In my next post, I will list down the promotional activities that I can think of.

BAsically, its just printing a little leaflet/poster which we can invite people to log on to www.desapetaling.com

its more the locations & Effort...

1. Put a few at all the condos/apartments notice boards (with the permission of the management of course)..
2. Put at bus stops
3. Put at 7-11 & KK notice boards...
4. Put at some of the restaurants, some where visible...
5. Put at Clinics (yes.. when you're waiting for your turn, you tend to look around at the posters..)
6. Put at CyberCafe...

Many people didnt notice there's a banner promoting www.desapetaling near winner court A. The banner should locate at the main traffic light beside shell, put it on the hill wall there. Got many advertisements there also. Many cars passing by everyday, i'm sure more people will notice it.

clinics and KK/7eleven notice board are good start.. i think the administrators did that, didn't he ?

We could help by making a much nicer banner/leaflet to be pinned at each condo's /apartments notice board. Cheesy

As for cons, i don't think there's any cons currently.

do you think management office would allow it?
if YES, i love to promote it.

how about paper insertation in newspaper?
we can "kaw-tim" with newspaper vendor.

'paper insertion in newspaper' is a very effective way within a residential area.
but who's gonna foot the bills for the leaflet print out ?  Grin

photocopy cost estimation
(black & white)

100   x RM0.05 = RM5.00
200   x RM0.05 = RM5.00
500   x RM0.05 = RM25.00
1000 x RM0.05 = RM50.00
2000 x RM0.05 = RM100.00

i willing to sponsor for cost up to RM100.00 but someone have to prepare the design / layout as well "kaw-tim" with newspaper vendor.

BUT is it nice if we photocopy the leaflet?
Would it give BIG impact to the reader?

Or can someonone from A&D and Printing background give an idea or suggestion on this matter?

how about "CALL Card" type material.
like distributed by plumber or ah-long.

Front page we promote our website and at the back we put 2009 calender or important / emergency contact number.

Sagat, Good idea with the newspaper insertion.. I would be more than willing to also fork out some cash (say we split 50-50?) for the cost of photocopy? But.. on the part of the design & newspaperman, a bit susah.. I duno the newspaper man, and also duno how to gau tim him..hahaha... as for design.. ermm... our dear chilicandy.. any chance you or anyone you know could whip up something? hehehe.. If not, I could, but it would be extremely simple..haha...

Also, I'd suggest preparing A4 size, but two copies (as in top down) per page... and front only... back, nevermind lah.. our intention is to get them here, not so much for them to keep the fliers...

If the callcard approach is cheaper, then maybe, however, I am skeptical, cause usually a set of call cards, (100) would costs around.. RM30? and if i'm not mistaken, even the cheapest (1000 cards @ 10 boxes) would costs around RM168, already way above your initial print costs....

And since we're not too sure about the newspaper man, I have another suggestion... We just immediately put the fliers in the post box (ala hardcopy spam..haha..) It wouldn't be too difficult for 1 person to put fliers in all the post boxes in a condo, cause usually they're all located at 1 location downstairs... I can do Vantage Point... hehe.. and in the near future, Widuri Impian as well... ok anot?

This could prove to be easier logistically as well. We just need to put up the design here in the forum for ppl to download, then later on, the person downloads, makes copies on his own, and then cuts the copies (cause they're two per paper), then just distribute to the post boxes lah...

Waddya think? May not have the best coverage, but definitely would get the attention of the actual residents more effectively....

i'm a new resident in Desa Petaling and I working in the IT field, can I join the forum development and the promotion as well? as we make our place more famous, the better and the closer all our resident in desa petaling as well.
